Global warming needs to stop. Our world needs to unite and stop global warming before
it gets too serious. Many things have been changing in our world due to global
warming and not for the better. In the past 12 years the sea level had risen by
by 17 cm. Before we know it a whole town could be underwater if we don’t try to
do something soon. Twelve of the years between 1995 and 2006, have been some of
the hottest 12 years knows to man. This may sound like a good thing to some
people but it is a bad thing for our environment. The hot weather is effecting
the environment because it is messing up the usual system. I know that the world
is aware of global warming, but I think we need to do more to help this issue
instead of just saying that you will try to stop pollution, or walk more, but we
actually need to act on this issue.

Some organizations and people that are trying to help this issue is Al gore, and Bill
Clinton. They have both spent a tremendous amount of money in donations to help
global warming, and Bill clinton started an organization called Global
Initiative Clinton. All of us can try to make a difference by simply not
littering, walking more, and not using as much water.

In my hexagon project I put a sky and an ocean because those are two things that
are getting getting affected from global warming. I had pictures of animals on
patches of ice in the middle of the ocean because sadly this is true. Global
warming is causing a lot of the ice to melt. I also had a picture of a car with
a lot of smoke coming out from it because this is a cause of global warming.
Same reason for why I had a picture of a factory polluting the air. I had a
picture of the Earth puffing out air because this is a silly way of showing what
the Earth is probably wanting to do. I used cool things on the sky and ocean
like glitter, cool patterns, and tissue paper, to really enhance that the ocean
and the sky are a big factor of Global warming.

Dehabitattation

My issue is Deforestation and how people are destroying animals home pushing some of them to extinction. I love animals and would like to work with them when I grow up, but if there are no animals left I can’t do that. We are destroying all the nature that was here before we were. Trees have been on Earth even before humankind and so have animals. We have lived beside them for years and now we want to push them to extinction. I don’t think that’s right. What if animals were destroying our homes? How would you feel? They might not be as intelligent as us, but they are still living creatures.

In my hexagon I used paper, a marker, glitter, and pictures. I used brown and green paper to symbolize a tree. Brown being the darker side and green the happy side. I have a bulldozer knocking down trees with animals running away to represent how what we are doing to destroy their habitat. the animals are running to the happy side where the “Wilderness Project” is helping to plant new trees and make the world greener. The organization’s logo is surrounded by gold glitter making it the sun. The sun is shining down on the good side providing light for all the good things people are doing. Also notice that the animals on the bad sad look worried and are running away, whereas on the good side they are happy living in the new trees. If we work together to stop deforestation we can make a change.

No More Violence

Violence happens in every country, state, and city. Child abuse, death and injury from weapons, animal abuse, and physical violence are just some types of violence. 1 in 3 women have been beaten throughout their lifetime. We should help prevent violence and stop the people from committing these types of crimes.

There are other types of violence too. Kids are getting bullied all around the world. Bullying causes lots of kids to become suicidal. Violence can be verbal, physical, emotional, and social. Every person deserves to be treated good and to be safe. I believe that if you are a bully or an abuser, you should stop right away and think again. Being bullied or abused yourself is no excuse, even if that had happened to you before, or you have something going on outside of school.

The red and black colors in my picture are meant to represent violence. I did a stop sign to say Stop Violence. The guns are meant to show how people kill other people and abuse them. For my hexagon I used the picture of a gun to show the violence and I drew weapons with some of the letters. I used red paper to make it more serious and black to make it bold.

                                                   UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Love: An intense feeling of deep affection. Everyday, over five children die due to abuse and neglect. In return, over 30% of these children will abuse their own children, and the cycle continues. At conception, a parent makes the choice to create a living being, unless the pregnancy was unplanned. Conventionally, this new parent should love and cherish this child they were endowed with. Child abuse is an international issue and is not concentrated to one area of the world. Although some organizations have been created to prevent this concern, child abuse is still prominent throughout the world. I feel that child abuse is wrong and not ethical. As Harold Hulbert once said, “Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.”
I decided to portray the child abuse issue because it is an issue so foreign to me, yet I feel so empathetic. Children are the future of our world, therefore, we need to ensure their rights and goods. To create my hexagon, I used a black construction-paper background to symbolize the negative aspect of this issue. I then drew a child’s hand with cuts and scrapes covering it saying “But Mommy, I thought you loved me?” to touch the hearts of those who can imagine a small child saying this. The red lettering of the “STOP CHILD ABUSE” draws attention to the concern and makes the viewer more prone to noticing it. All around, my hexagon was to show the foul and sorrowful aspects of child abuse, so more things can be done to stop this problem in our world.

My project focused on the issue of starvation.  It’s estimated that every 3.6 seconds someone dies of starvation about 15 million people per year. This issue is important to address because millions of innocent men, women and children are dying from something that could be fixed. Many charities and organization are working to fight the power of starvation, such as feed my starving children. Feed my starving children helps people all around the world especially those in developing countries get sufficient supply of food. What my hexagon depicted was this, It showed a plate with rice. This part of my picture shows the food that these people should be receiving everyday. The other part was a spoon which had a globe drawn on it. This represented feeding the world. Lastly the background for my picture was colored orange, this is because orange internationally represents starvation.  This issue is important to me because this is something that no one should have to go through.

I chose to research oil spills because I love animals and I know that they are affected by the oil. The problem that it represents is the struggle to stop oil spills. My picture fits into environment because the ocean and animals are part of the environment. This compelled me because I think it is sad how many animals can die in it.
This issue is most prevalent in the Gulf of Mexico or in large areas of water. During the spills, hundred's of coral reefs go extinct, near Washington State, there was 11 million gallons of oil spilled, and about 500,000 birds die each year. Some organizations trying to prevent it is Wildlife Rescuers in Mexico, OSRO (Oil Spill Response Organizations) and the SCAA.
I used colored pencils and markers to create my hexagon. A significant color to represent this is black, because it would stand for the oil, so that is what I used in the middle. The issue is getting better, because there is less oil in the water.

                                     STOP ABUSE
Child abuse is so bad.. and its happening everywhere in this world. One out of every three girls are sexually assulted before the age of 18. Also, one out of seven children are abused a day. Verbal, psychological, physical, neglect, and sexual abuse are the 5 kinds of abuse. These multiple kinds of abuse are happening everday and everywhere in the world. Physical abuse is so sad, it’s depressing walking around and seeing kids with scars, brusies, and cuts. It is also hard hearing about kids and girls killing themselves because of being abused. People need to stop this! I think people should develop organizations, or to people and make them feel loved that have been abused. The materials i
used to make this hexagon were: red paint to look like blood,
sharpies, and Internet images to depict the problem. I traced my hand to show
the 5 different kinds of abuse, and wrote facts about sexual and physical abuse.
Im hoping this showed you how important this issue is, how its happening
everywhere, and how we need to stop this.

HOT STUFF

Colin K.

I drew the art on my hexagon, and named it “Hot Stuff”. Global warming is an issue that should be recognized by everybody around the world. Antarctica has lost more than 24 cubic miles of ice each year since 2002. The ice sheets covering Greenland and Antarctica are responsible for 99.5% of the Earth’s land ice. If these ice sheets melt, they can raise the sea level by around 64 meters. If the seal level rises, it can put multiple places underwater, including New Orleans and Manhattan. Many people have decided to take a stand, and try to use alternative energy. Some alternative energy sources are solar energy, wind energy, and nuclear energy. Global warming is an important issue to view because if the people do not stop polluting, someday their family members will be sleeping with the fishes. And i’m sure that isn’t what many people want. Not only can people’s lives get taken by the rising sea level, but also many habitats of animals, such as the polar bear.
In my hexagon, I drew a hand holding the earth. The earth is on fire in this picture, symbolizing the rise in temperature. I also drew a solar panel, and a wind turbine. I drew these two things because they show two alternative energy sources that could be used instead of energy sources that pollute the air, such as coal and oil energy. Global warming needs to stop. The sooner that happens, the sooner we save the earth.

Starvation
Charlie C

Starvation is a major issue in the world. Especially in Africa. One out of seven people go hungry each night and 10.7 million children under the age of 5 die each year of starvation. Those numbers are outrageous! People deserve to have food and live a good life. Organizations are a great way to help the children. Feed My Starving Children is a great one. It is a fun and helpful way   In my artwork, I displayed three pictures of hungry children to show how depressing it is to see what starving children look like. I also wrote two phrases on my hexagon. Make a difference and help the children. We should all be doing that to make children happier. The media I used for my artwork was pictures from the internet. I used three pictures of hungry children. I also drew an apple with a slash through it indicating that the children have no food to eat. My hexagon is important to me because I think this issue is very important and we should do something about it. Children also die in the U.S. We are the wealthiest country in the world and people still die from starvation. No one thinks about that. If we did think about it, then people might actually do something. This is one of the world’s most critical issues. If we all do something about it, the world would be a better place.

World Education is a big issue. in many countries some children do not go to school. in many countries it is not a law. many organizations such as save the children they are bringing education to 10 million kids and counting. many kids complain about going to school but imagine not going next time think about complaining. Education is vital in today’s world you need it to get a good job to keep up with the rising prices of basic needs.

My art symbolizes this issue by showing Africa and South America the places where children uneducated the most. I traced the continents and put lined paper over them to symbolize the paper used in schools. I also put dipped blue tissue paper in water and put it on the hexagon. The next day I took off the tissue paper to get the blue color that bleed of the tissue paper. I also put statistics of uneducated children to show that these kids need to get educated to make our world better and smarter.
