Tripp T.Hunger kills and harms many people throughout the world. In Asia and the Pacific 578 million are without food, and 925 million are hungry. In Sub-Saharan Africa 239 million are living without energy from food. What is being done? Companies and organizations are raising money to fight hunger. Food banks have volunteers to help pack, and distribute food to those in hunger. Schools around the country have food drives and walks against hunger. Helping fight against hunger is very important to me. To think of people that can’t have food and be without it for days is very meaningful. Some die from starvation, this can’t be happening. We need to do something about it. To make this work of art I used colored pencil. I used this because I used detail, and colored pencil allowed me to bring these details out. In my hexagon I symbolized hunger by drawing two hungry looking children. These children both are thinking of food to eat. I also drew people walking, which symbolized what our school does to help against hunger. I also wrote a meaningful quote, to motivate people to help. I said “ For those living in hunger is a daily battle. But they don’t have to fight alone”

I really liked your quote because it really illustrate how important interdependence is: "they can't fight alone." You clearly portrayed how this is not only their problem, but everyone's responsibility. Nice job!

I teach with Emily Cook in a Chicago suburban school. While my students have learned about global issues in the past, this project allowed them to see that these are not problems that people in other places in the world have to deal with, but rather, that these are world problems, and since we all have a civic responsibility to the world, these are our problems too.
