One Dollar to the Hungry Can Save Lives
Hunger can really affect a person’s life. It is astonishing that every 3.6 seconds a person dies of hunger. That leads to 30 million people a year. Most of these people live in Asia and the Pacific. With in that 30 million people, 2,250,000 or 75%, are children. Those people that are starving eat very little, if any, amounts of food each day. These people can be made happy, with just a little food, because it makes such a difference in their life. Donating one dollar can feed four kids.
This is important to me because as a child, I am so happy to have a house to live in and food to eat all the time. I am very concerned for those who do not have these same things. Right now, there are many organizations that are trying to help this issue. For example, Yum! Brands has raised over $60 million and helped provide 250 million meals for people all around the world. Our school, participates in the Walk Against Hunger at the end of the year which raises money for the poor. Similar to this, many schools and organizations work hard through fundraisers and donations to get money and food to the hungry.
In my hexagon, I printed out images of statistics and other pictures of starving people. This shows how hungry they are and how they barely get any food. The media I used to create this project is, pictures from the Internet, paint, glue, and scissors. I chose pictures from the Internet to illustrate hunger because pictures are the most detailed form of media, you can see every detail of the picture. I put pictures of a child eating crumbs off a floor because that shows how hungry he is. As you can see, hunger is a big issue and people are trying their hardest to stop it. Just remember, that donating one dollar can save 4 kids lives.
