Human Trafficking is an issue that has become widespread throughout the world. Millions of people are trafficked each year, including women, men, and children, sexually and for labor. Although human trafficking will not disappear completely any time soon, we need to try to stop it as much as possible. This issue is close to me because I feel that no young girl should be forced into sexual slavery or slavery for labor, or anyone else for that matter. What these individuals suffer through should be a concern to people across the globe. Many organizations are working to stop this issue. These organizations include:,, and There is a 24/7 human trafficking hotline available, and maps that provide information about recent reports of human trafficking. To take action, you can inform yourself about the issue, donate to organizations, volunteer, and spread awareness to others. To begin spreading awareness myself, I displayed images that represented these methods of solutions on my artwork. I provided the human trafficking hotline, and included ways that others can get involved. I hope that many people will become more aware of this global issue and take action in the future to stop human trafficking.

I teach with Emily Cook in a Chicago suburban school. While my students have learned about global issues in the past, this project allowed them to see that these are not problems that people in other places in the world have to deal with, but rather, that these are world problems, and since we all have a civic responsibility to the world, these are our problems too.
