I chose to display the topic of homelessness on my hexagon because this is a growing problem in the world. As of 2011, an estimated 636,000 Americans are living on the streets. These people don’t have jobs and are barely surviving by sleeping on the streets and salvaging bits of food from wherever they can find it. To show this problem on my hexagon, I drew the hexagon with colored pencils and showed a man sitting on a sidewalk, holding a cardboard sign. I also drew a scene of the same man sleeping on a sidewalk. I wrote a quote from Mother Teresa, talking about how homelessness can be “remedied in our own homes”. This quote encourages people to help the homeless by doing little things, such as donating food or money to help prevent homelessness.
