In the past decade, over 2,000,000 kids have been killed in conflict. Over 6,000,000 have been seriously injured or permanently disabled. That huge number of kids who don’t get to have a real childhood. They have to give their lives for something they don’t even understand. People like us are so lucky to be able to have a normal and friendly childhood we get to spend being kids, not soldiers. This is important to me because I can’t even imagine having to fight in a war at the age of 10. I am so grateful for what I have, and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
In my hexagon I used pictures I found in the Internet that depict my subject and I made them into a collage. I made a border of red glitter to represent the bloodshed, and the great amount of innocent lives lost of children. I put in a picture of a boy holding a gun. A BIG gun. Instead of having toys to play with, these kids have guns. I also put in the logos of big organizations that are trying to help these kids, and stop the people who are running this. These are groups like Invisible Children (KONY 2012), Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers, and many more. The main areas where the use of child soldiers is happening is in Africa and Asia. I made sure to include those countries in my hexagon. The use of child soldiers needs to be stopped, because theses kids are the future. And without these kids, what is the future?
