The name of my artwork is help stop animal abuse.  Animal abuse is a problem almost everywhere in the U.S. There were 1085 recorded cases of animal abuse in 2010. This is important to me because I feel that it is wrong to abuse animals. Everyone and everything should be treated equal. In my picture, I used colored pencils to draw a dog behind a fence. I think this relates to animals abuse because most abused animals are locked up behind fences and gates.

I love how you had drawn the dog in your hexagon! It looks so realistic!

Juliana,
You did an amazing job on helping us feel the sadness of the dog in your artwork. Great facial expression and color choices. Thank you for addressing this important issue.

I like how you used the colors to set the mood of the drawing. Also, the puppy pawing at the fence makes it seem sad.

I teach with Emily Cook in a Chicago suburban school. While my students have learned about global issues in the past, this project allowed them to see that these are not problems that people in other places in the world have to deal with, but rather, that these are world problems, and since we all have a civic responsibility to the world, these are our problems too.
